I have given a few haircuts in my day. Quite a few. Actually, a lot of haircuts.
But never as many in one day as I gave today. We started at 9 this morning with the youngest girls here at the Children's Home. We washed each girl's hair with lice removal shampoo and then started cutting. Grace and I did the cutting while Hepsy Aunty took over the washing. We were appalled to see that almost every child has head lice. The shorter haircuts will certainly make it easier to take care of that problem. After their haircut, each girl got new hairbows. They were delighted.
When we'd finished with the younger girls, we started in on the boys. Youngest first, shampoos, then initial cutting of the longer hair and then, Jonathan, with electric clippers, buzzed all the heads!
We worked all morning, stopped for lunch at 1:00, and then got right back to work. J, G, and I had reinforcements in the afternoon. Kathy, Kandyce, and Coty were back from eye appointments in Cherala and joined in with the cutting. We worked our way through from youngest to oldest and ended with washing our own hair with lice shampoo and dumping buckets of water over our heads to cool off and clean off the hair clinging to us. Whew!
Pictures are coming when I get home next week.
